About Just Family Festival

He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata! He tangata! He tangata!
What is the most important thing in the world? It is people! It is people! It is people!

Just Family Festival is an annual, weekend-long, flamboyant summer celebration of family, friends, the arts, creativity and nature! With an eclectic musical lineup and arts performances, workshops, and installations galore, Just Family takes you and your precious ones on a creative journey, imbued with magic, inspiration, and adventure!

After a hugely successful inaugural first year, Just Family Festival is back again in the stunning natural setting of the magnificent Kaitoke Regional Park in Upper Hutt in 2019 and is dedicated to families with children aged 0-12 years.

Just Family Festival is operated under the Just Family Charitable Trust, a registered, not-for-profit charity, set up to help families make meaningful, creative connections and build stronger communities for the future.

Kaly Newman - The Producer

Kaly, who hails from the UK, trained in the Performing Arts, graduated in Arts Therapies, and has a background as an outdoor festival producer. Kaly founded the Just Family Charitable Trust after being inspired by the concept of family arts festivals around the world and how they can positively impact on the lives of children, adults, families, and communities on a wider scale.

The joy of sharing the arts out in nature and spending quality, precious time with her own son has led her to her dream of creating the Just Family Festival - a place where families in New Zealand can celebrate and revel in each other for beautiful moments in time.

Make a Donation

Here at Just Family, we believe that family comes in all shapes and sizes. Just Family Charitable Trust is proud to be working in partnership with Birthright, the national charity for one parent families, and Grandparents Raising Grandchildren – the national charity that helps support those grandparents raising grandchildren full-time.  We desire to make the event as accessible as possible for some of those families who might not ordinarily be able to afford to access the event and so we ask of your generosity.

A way that you can help a family from one of these charities to attend the festival is if, upon buying your own ticket at iTICKET, you choose to select an extra donation ticket of $10.00 (or multiples of however much you wish to donate).  This will then directly go to the purchase of a family weekend pass for a family from one these two wonderful charities, enabling children from all walks of life to be exposed to the magic of creativity and the meaningful connection of community that is at the heart of what Just Family Festival is all about.
